How Roop Cottage Delivers on the CQC's Five Questions
Every CQC inspection asks five things of a care home. Here is our answer to each β in our own words, with our own home, our own team and our own residents.

Safe β our answer
24/7 call-bell cover"Are people protected from abuse and avoidable harm?"
- Every colleague is DBS-checked, safeguarding-trained and fully inducted before working alone
- 24/7 call bells in all 33 bedrooms, secure door entry, CCTV and full fire detection
- Our enclosed gardens are fully secured, so residents can wander safely at any time
- Medication audits, falls prevention and personalised risk plans, reviewed with families

Effective β our answer
Monthly care reviews"Does care achieve good outcomes?"
- Care plans written around each resident, reviewed monthly and with family input
- Ongoing training, supervision and appraisal for every member of our team
- Close work with GPs, district nurses, opticians, dentists, dietitians and speech & language therapy
- Nutrition & hydration monitored with MUST screening and adapted menus β diabetic, halal, kosher, vegan, texture-modified

Caring β our answer
Person-centred, always"Are people treated with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect?"
- Dignity is non-negotiable β we always knock, always listen, always respect
- Life-story books and reminiscence activities that celebrate who each resident is
- Birthdays, cultural and religious festivals celebrated together as one home
- Families are partners in care β open visiting 10amβ8pm and updates whenever asked

Responsive β our answer
Veteran Friendly accredited"Does the service meet people's individual needs?"
- Veterans' Armed Forces status is recorded in care plans; staff are PTSD-aware and we are Veteran Friendly accredited
- Meals, routines and waking times follow each resident's choices β not ours
- A daily activities and community-inclusion programme shaped by what residents actually want
- Resident & relative forums where feedback genuinely changes how we work

- Audits, quality checks and continuous improvement are part of our weekly rhythm
